I’m excited to announce that the theatrical version of Trillion Game will hit theaters on February 14th. Some of you might have already checked it out!
This movie has quite the journey―it started as a manga, became a TV drama, and is finally on the big screen. It tells the story of an unknown young guy reaching for the top of the world. We’ve got Meguro Ren playing Hal, the “charismatic bluff master,” and Yuto Sano as Gaku, the brilliant engineer.
STORY
Imagine a company worth a trillion dollars―yes, a trillion! With that kind of cash, you could have anything. The plot follows Hal, who’s naturally charming and an absolute master of hype, and Gaku, the quiet genius, as they set off on an unpredictable mission to make a trillion dollars.
Back in 2016, when the IR Promotion Bill (affectionately known as the “Casino Bill”) was passed, Hal saw an opportunity in the dream and romance of a new, hugely profitable business. He’s diving into developing Japan’s first-ever casino resort―something no one has ever pulled off.
For his grand ambition, his target is the world’s top casino mogul! Can Hal and Gaku pull off this epic money game, shaking Japan to its core, and bag that trillion dollars?
The film’s vibe is perfectly captured by its stunning filming locations―Okayama, Kagawa, and Ehime prefectures. In Ehime, scenes were shot at iconic spots like Shimanami Kaido, Kiro-san Observatory, and Matsuyama Sightseeing Port. You’ll have to see the movie to catch how these amazing locations play into the story!
Fun fact: Although filming in Ehime initially occurred in winter 2024, unpredictable weather forced a cancellation and reshoot. Ultimately, the extra effort paid off, adding even more magic to the film’s world.
The Okayama Film Commission has also put together a filming location map to celebrate the release, including sites in Ehime and Kagawa. The map will be available and posted in various spots around Ehime, so check it out!
